The difference between
the right word
and the wrong word
is the difference
between lightning
and the lightning bug.

~Mark Twain

I live in northern Arizona with my high school sweetheart and a charming little man named Oscar.

I spent the first thirty-five years of my life going to school, because I really couldn’t figure out what else to do.  In 2006 I  got my doctorate in Education and now I’m a full-time English professor at Northern Arizona University. I only did it for the clothes:

Who else gets to rock an outfit like this without being part of a Harry Potter movie?

I  finally got pregnant at the ripe old age of thirty-seven (that’s elderly prima gravida for you medical types).  I was blissfully happy for awhile because I didn’t realize that this:

Is followed by this:

Every day I struggle to be a full-time professor and full-time mom while trying to chase my dream of being a writer. My house is dirty, my temper is short, my desk is piled with papers, my to-do list is long, my gray hairs are many, and my heart is filled with love for my little boy.
